Chris Medina (lahir 1984) di Chicago, Illinois. Dia merilis single berjudul "What are words" pada 25 Februari 2011, sehari setelah dia dieliminasi dari American Idol. Chris Medina berhasil mencapai urutan kontestan yang ke 40 dari 325 kontestan.  

Lagu ini bercerita tentang tunangannya yang menderita cedera otak akibat kecelakaan mobil pada 2 oktober 2009 yang lalu. Lagu ini berhasil masuk pada urutan # 22 di chart Songs Heatseekers, dan kemudian mencapai urutan # 83 di Billboard Hot 100. Sejak itu terjual 61.000 eksemplar. Dia juga pernah melakukan show di "The Tonight Show" dengan Jay Leno pada tanggal 28 Februari 2011 dan di Good Morning America pada tanggal 4 Maret 2011. Debut lagunya terus naik, dari posisi # 6 pada Lista-VG Norwegia sampai pada tanggal 22 April 2011, naik ke posisi teratas di minggu kedua.
